Originally built circa 1790 with later kitchen and bathroom additions.  Extensively renovated in 2019, the home is fresh with new appliances, furnishings, and HVAC units, although still keeps its rustic charm. Owned by Maryland-based siblings, they have taken great care to retain the special features of The Brae. The majority of proximate neighbors in this sweet spot share their Smith family heritage. “Brae” is a Scottish term for steep hillside. This home’s terraced and private lot allows it to be well tucked into the ridge above Elbow Beach to its south and affords partial views of outer Hamilton harbor within a mile to the north from its upper level. Experience this delightful and centrally-located home, featuring original exposed cedar log rafters with unique 11-foot tray ceilings. Guests enter through the comfortable Living Room. Looking to the left enjoy an intimate Dining Room furnished with period antiques and a working fireplace, or, for al fresco meals and entertaining; step out to the spacious 14-foot-deep covered porch with attractive teak dining furniture. From the porch, you can look out to the pretty garden setting, most of which is laid to terraced lawn. All guests will appreciate the recently renovated and fully equipped kitchen. The principal bedroom suite is on the entrance level, upper floor. Downstairs, East and West bedrooms flank a central room on the lower level, each with their own compact bathrooms, HVAC, and secure on-grade exits. The East bedroom has an antique four poster double bed. The other bedroom has a queen bed. Between the two lower bedrooms the sitting room has a daybed with a trundle for singles or children. The location is ideal, not only central to the island but an eight-minute walk to the famous Elbow Beach and the private Coral Beach Club. Just a few minutes’ walk takes you to the ‘Railway Trail’ that now extends to most of the island, fifteen minutes to the ferry into Hamilton, or a forty-minute walk into Hamilton itself.             Booking terms

            The rate includes housekeeping once a week , extra housekeeping can be arranged on request. All maintenance and up keep of grounds. WIFI and electricity included. If the stay is long term, electricity is for the account of the guest.  Seven night bookings preferred. 

            For longer term stays, the rent is payable in advance  for the full period booked.

            Any booking taken after November 1st 2018  a 4.5% Vacation Rental Fee will be added, this will be 4.5% of the total rental ‘ nightly’ price.
